Harris has served as Parsec’s director of tax services since Parsec acquired his and his partner Brad Burlingham’s firm in 2018.
For the past 10 years Harris has served as an alderman on the Town of Black Mountain’s Board of Alderman, which is made up of the mayor and five aldermen.
Harris is extremely charitable with his time in the community. On average he volunteers approximately 20 hours a month. Outside of his responsibilities with Black Mountain’s city council, he is the current chair of CarePartners (HCA), MountainCare, Inc and the Buncombe County Audit Committee. He serves on the Board at Deerfield Episcopal Retirement Community as Treasurer and is on the board of directors for Mission Hospital (HCA). Larry is a member and past president (1994-1995) of the Black Mountain Rotary Club.
In 2019 he received The Charles H. Campbell Regional Leadership Award from Land of Sky Regional Council. The award was dedicated in 1983 to annually honor an outstanding contributor to the betterment of Western North Carolina and the Land of Sky Region. The Council’s executive committee awards it to another council member who has made a major long-term contribution to the Council and its governance.
