Where did you grow up? Where do you live now?

I grew up in the stunning landscape of Anchorage, Alaska. My dad was a bush pilot, so I was lucky enough to spend the first 18 years of my life exploring and discovering the beauty of Alaska’s remote locations.

Though I now call North Carolina my home, I constantly seek out new trails and nature spots to explore. I believe this came from the love for the great outdoors instilled in my heart from a young age.

Growing up in Alaska taught me the importance of perseverance and determination in the face of challenges. I developed a strong and resilient spirit that continues to drive me forward in all aspects of life.

Financial planning is a constantly evolving field that requires a diverse set of skills. The variety of work is appealing to me because I enjoy problem-solving and working with numbers. I also enjoy the opportunity to continue learning and expanding my knowledge throughout my career.

What’s the best career advice you ever got?

One of the most valuable pieces of career advice I have ever received was imparted to me by Michael Bruder, a Wealth Manager at Modera. He advised me on my journey to become a certified financial planner and urged me to keep in mind that it was a marathon, not a sprint.

Michael’s advice emphasized the importance of a long-term perspective and patient persistence in pursuing my goals. He reminded me that success in any field requires a significant amount of time, dedication, and training, and that my journey towards becoming a certified financial planner was no exception.

Rather than rushing to achieve my certification, he suggested that I adopt a more measured pace, one that would allow me to acquire the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in the field. I was encouraged to embrace the challenges and opportunities that came my way, and to treat my journey as a continuous learning process.

Following Michael’s guidance has proven to be invaluable in my career. It has helped me to avoid the pitfalls of impatience and to remain focused on my long-term goals. During my leisure time I devote myself to the gratifying task of home renovations. The process of remodeling a home and woodworking is an activity that brings me joy and a sense of fulfillment.

Apart from home renovation, I take immense pleasure in whipping up scrumptious delicacies for my family, who are always eager to partake in the culinary delights that I prepare. As a result, my culinary skills are constantly honed, and I strive to innovate and create new dishes that are both wholesome and appetizing.

Furthermore, I have a keen interest in gardening. Specifically, I take great pleasure in growing my own food, from vegetables to fruits and herbs, as it allows me to cultivate a deeper connection with nature and the food that sustains us. I have recently delved into the world of flower gardening, discovering which plants work as best companions alongside my vegetables and herbs. It’s a fascinating journey of discovery and experimentation.
